A meat hunt is the most affordable way to hunt Rustic Springs Ranch, and it sends you home with some of the best wild venison in Texas. We offer axis doe, red deer hind and fallow doe hunts on the same ranch, blinds and feeders our trophy hunters use, under 2 hours from Dallas in Franklin County, East Texas.
Axis venison is widely considered the finest of any deer, lean and mild with none of the gaminess of whitetail. Red deer hind gives you the most meat of the three. Fallow doe is tender and fine-grained and is a favorite for the table.

Meat hunt pricing
- Axis doe: $1,250
- Red deer hind: $1,500
- Fallow doe: $750
Axis doe are hunted in the spring and fall. Fallow doe are hunted in the fall, and red deer hind in the fall and winter. Lodging and meal packages are optional add-ons at $200 per person per day for ages 13 and up, and free for kids 12 and under. Full details are on our hunting packages and prices page.
Cleaning facility
Every meat hunt includes access to our cleaning facility with electric hoists, cold storage and an ice machine, so your animal is skinned, hung and cooled the same day. Meat processing and taxidermy are arranged separately and are not included in the hunt price.
What to expect
You bring your own rifle, or ask us about a loaner. A valid Texas hunting license is required, and out-of-state hunters can buy a 5-day exotic non-resident license through Texas Parks and Wildlife. A 50 percent non-refundable deposit reserves your dates, and reschedules need at least 30 days' notice. If an animal is shot and not recovered, the hunter is responsible for the full price of the animal. There is no minimum age to hunt; youth hunt alongside a parent under Texas Parks and Wildlife rules, which makes a doe hunt a good first hunt for a young hunter.
